Lesson 1: Welcome and Introduction

Welcome to Introduction to the Enneagram of Christlike Virtues! On behalf of Mosaic Formation, we’re thrilled to have you join us on this journey of spiritual growth and transformation. Whether you’re new to the Enneagram or have been exploring it for years, this course is designed to offer fresh insights and practical tools for your spiritual journey.

At Mosaic Formation, we believe that spiritual formation is not about self-improvement but about being transformed by the love of God into the likeness of Jesus. Our prayer is that this course will bless you and that others will be blessed through you.

Course Overview

In this course, we’ll explore the Enneagram of Christlike Virtues (ECV), a framework that focuses on nine virtues of Jesus and how we can embody them through deepening trust in God. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Module 1: Foundations of the Enneagram of Christlike Virtues
    • Learn about the history of the Enneagram and the shift from personality types to Christlike virtues.
    • Discover the Garden of the Soul metaphor and its five components.
  • Module 2: Understanding Our Spiritual Garden
    • Explore the nine deadly sins (weeds) and how they hinder our spiritual growth.
    • Reflect on the nine Christlike virtues (fruits) and how they reflect the character of Jesus.
    • Use the WEPSS profile to map your unique spiritual garden and identify areas of growth.
  • Module 3: Tending to the Weeds
    • Dive deeper into the manifestations of deadly sins (weed shoots) and their roots (inordinate attachments and false beliefs).
    • Learn how to uproot these weeds through prayers of detachment and Scripture meditations.
  • Module 4: Nurturing the Seeds
    • Explore your God-given gifts and abilities (seeds) and how to cultivate them for God’s glory.
    • Discover spiritual practices (fertilizers) that help curb weeds and stimulate seeds.
  • Module 5: Deepening Trust and Bearing Fruit
    • Deepen your trust in God through the four waters of prayer.
    • Reflect on the journey of spiritual formation and live as a flourishing garden.

This course is designed to be interactive and reflective. Each lesson includes:

  • Reflection questions to help you apply the material to your life.
  • Group discussions to share insights and learn from others.
  • Practical exercises to deepen your spiritual practices.

About Mosaic Formation

Mosaic Formation is a Christian nonprofit ministry focused on the spiritual formation of ministry leaders in underserved contexts. Founded in 2021, our mission is to make soul care and spiritual formation training accessible to all.

We operate on a Freely Receive, Freely Give model, inspired by Jesus’ words in Matthew 10:8: “Freely you have received, freely give.” This means that anyone receiving services from Mosaic Formation is a recipient of someone else’s generosity, rather than a paying customer. Our prayer is that this course will bless you, and that others will be blessed through you.

What to Expect

As you embark on this course, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Engage Fully: Take time to reflect on the material, participate in discussions, and complete the exercises.
  • Be Patient: Spiritual growth is a journey, not a quick fix. Trust that God is at work in you.
  • Celebrate Progress: Transformation happens gradually. Celebrate small steps along the way.

We’re so glad you’re here! Let’s begin this journey together.

Would you take a moment to pause and to pray before embarking on this course, asking God to help you perceive and understand whatever He would like to show you?

Heavenly Father, Open my heart and mind to whatever You want to teach me. Help me to know you more intimately, to love you more intensely, and to follow you more closely. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
